Who We Are

Quest Couch
Quest Couch, Co-Founder and CEO, has been a writer, photographer and producer of award-winning multimedia for nearly 30 years. As a result of the demands of this type of photography, he developed the LumiQuest line of flash accessories, generally considered to be the most popular of its kind in the world. He is the author of two instructional books on flash photography.

After obtaining undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Radio, Television & Film from the University of Texas at Austin, Quest went on to explore a wide range of interests. These pursuits have resulted in a number of patents and products, not only in the photo industry, but also in SCUBA diving and other areas, as well.

Quest continues to write, make art, experiment with photography and develop new photo accessories while dividing his time between Texas, Costa Rica and Querencia, his recently completed mountain retreat in New Mexico, as he skis, kayaks, fly fishes, SCUBA dives, and strives to become a less pathetic surfer.

Troy Staas

Troy Staas
, Troy is what we here at LumiQuest like to call a Jack of all Trades, Master of None. Well, unless you count sleeping on the sofa (he has DEFINITELY mastered that)! He likes long walks in the outdoors, blondes, and – oh – that’s his dating profile… Troy actually speaks his mind when provoked and smiles when he happy. He’s sort of a 5th (or 4th) wheel at the office, but he’s useful to us. Somehow. Gotta’ love Troy!

Hank the Office Dog

Hank the Office Dog
, Hank is great at retrieving LumiQuest’s mail and gets along famously with his co-workers. He is best known for bringing a nice aroma to the office, but most of all for his great smile and witty office jokes.

Nearly 25 years ago, Quest Couch and Heidi Kenny were operating Quest Productions, a company specializing in high-end corporate multimedia. The still photography required for this type of work necessitated fast setups on location, under a variety of circumstances. These demands led to the development of the LumiQuest line of flash accessories. From our very first designs, the emphasis was on simple light modifiers that worked, rather than gimmicks that would sell.

This mission has led to over 25 different devices designed to solve real lighting problems in the field. All of our light modifiers serve specific purposes by combining the photographers’ needs with the basic laws of physics to create simple, effective accessories that work.

We continue to listen to photographers’ problems and share their vision … to help them create images that are beyond their wildest dreams.
